Dear Room Parents,
First and foremost, thank you for being part of the SMA community and for generously sharing your time with us this upcoming school year. We are excited to welcome both returning and new members to the SMA PTA. With that in mind, we would like to outline the commitment expected from room parents to ensure a successful and collaborative year. Serving as a room parent means actively participating in the PTA and its activities. While we understand that everyone has other personal and professional obligations, please be aware that certain PTA events and meetings are mandatory, as outlined in the school’s handbook.
Attached, you will find a list of all PTA activities, including the mandatory events and meetings (additional activities may be added during the year depending on your grade). If a room parent is unable to attend two or more events, they may be replaced. This policy ensures that responsibilities are shared fairly and that no one individual carries the bulk of the work. Our goal is to foster a fully engaged and supportive committee.
Additionally, we kindly request that all room parents schedule a meeting with their assigned teacher as soon as possible. Please be respectful of each teacher’s preferences and requests regarding classroom celebrations or events. Our primary role is to support the teachers, and we ask that their time and boundaries be honored.
