Want to come back to school in the fall and attend our ice cream social? What about having the math department serve you pancakes? If either of these options interest you, please take a moment and check out the information below.
Every summer our students are asked to read and complete math assignments (grades 4-8) to help prevent the summer slide. Below you will find the links needed for these assignments.
Mrs. Marcelino’s Ice Cream Social Summer Reading Log – Students in kindergarten through third grade are asked to read and record 10 books. Students in fourth and fifth grade are asked to read five books, and middle school students are asked to read three books.
Middle School Reading (6-8) – Mrs. Fowler is asking all students to read one fiction book and one non-fiction book over the summer. Students entering seventh and eighth grade will be asked to be ready to speak – Students in fourth through eighth grade are asked to complete 8 ALEKS assignments over the summer with a score of 90% or higher. If students score lower, they can use the Quick Retake option to simply redo the problems they missed. Assignments can be found in the upper left hand corner of ALEKS by clicking on the three lines and selecting “Assignments”. It is strongly suggested that students complete the 8 ALEKS topics before working on their personal pie if they are close to finishing their pie so as to not lose their work on the assignments.
Thank you! We hope you have a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing you on Monday, August 28th.
Tonight SMA is hosting the annual Night of Art and Music in the Parish Hall from 5-7 pm.
Also on campus, we will be offering a TK and Kindergarten information night from 5:15-5:45 in the kindergarten classroom.
We are also offering incoming 6th grade families to stop by the 6th grade classroom to learn about our middle school program and what we offer at SMA. This event will take place from 5:00-5:30 in the 6th grade classroom.
We hope you can join us!

Greetings SMA Parents and Guardians:
Final Scholastic Book Fair of the year will be here Monday 3/27 – Friday 3/31.
This is a great opportunity to stock up on summer reading material, while also helping us earn Scholastic Dollars to help purchase books and materials for our classrooms and library. The theme is “Happy Camper”, so come join us as we get into the spirit of summer!
WE’RE TRYING SOMETHING NEW – TOY FREE SALES (Okay, mostly toy free…some of the books have toys/stickers and there will be a very limited amount of non-book items). We’ll be toy free through Tuesday, so please plan to come early in the week, if this is appealing to you as a shopper.
The Details:
Where: SMA Library
When: Monday – Open for sales after school
Tuesday – Open for sales before and after school
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – Open before, after, and during senior yard recess and lunch. Bookfair will close about 1 PM on Friday.
TK – 5: As usual, your student’s classroom will visit the library during their regularly scheduled library time on Wednesday or Thursday. During this time period we will read one or two books from the book fair aloud and students will browse and create a “wish list. Parents are encouraged to shop after school with their student, but for your convenience, students are permitted to purchase items during library time, if you send money with them.
Thank you for helping to support our school and our wonderful community of readers!
With Appreciation,
Mrs. Marcelino
SMA Librarian
