Grandparents’ Day is Tomorrow, February 3rd

This is just a reminder that we are asking all grandparents and special friends to gather at 8:30 in the Parish Hall. They will be served a light breakfast and some coffee and welcomed to our school. From there grandparents will visit classrooms and eventually return to the hall for some presentations from our students. We will end the day with our All School mass at 11:15 in the church. We hope you can join us tomorrow!

Save the Date! Family Gala 2/24 and Adult Gala 5/20!

PTO is hoping you are saving the date for our Second Annual Family Gala on Friday, February 24th from 5 pm – 8 pm at Rockin’ Jump in Mira Mesa.
Buy tickets to participate in teacher stations, eat food, and win prizes. There will also be some Teacher Challenges! What fun!
Classes are hard at work on collecting donations for their class baskets! The Lego basket in 2nd grad is coming together quickly and 4th grade is working on a staycation basket with a stay at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club?! These are going to be too good to pass up!! Also, don’t forget to bid on Teacher Features! Teachers are determining their activities now and I am certain there will be lots of students wanting to participate in all the fun they have in store!!

Also, while I have you, pull out your calendars at Save the Date for Saturday, May 20th. Our Gala committee is hard at work on the adult gala as well. More information will be coming, but we want to make sure you are able to come celebrate with us!

SMA Dads’ Club 4th Annual Wine Tasting

Please join us for the 4th Annual Wine Tasting on Saturday, January 28th from 6 to 9 in the Parish Hall
 
Celebrate the New Year with our SMA family, Mary, Star of the Sea Parish and our La Jolla Neighbors. We will feature wine selections from San Diego County Wineries including: Highland Valley Vineyards, Old Survey Vineyards and Lenora Winery
 
Entrance includes a Stella Maris wine glass, wine tasting and appetizers. Tickets are $25 a person – Sponsor a teacher or staff for $25 and consider page or in the office.

 

Christmas Parade this Sunday, December 4th

This coming Sunday(December 4th) is the annual La Jolla Christmas parade. We are well under way with prepping our float for this year’s parade – the theme is “Christmas in the Future”.

We are planning to start the building/decorating process on Saturday(December 3rd, time will be sent out in a couple of days) and we will need help early Sunday morning as well for final float preparations – starting at 8 am . If you can join us for any of those times please email Jennifer Barber-Singh with details on how your family can help us – building/decorations/child riding (please include what they will be dressed as).

The float committee looks forward to another award winning float & we need all the help we can get!! Also, Jennifer will be in the Jr yard after school Tues-Friday for ornament decorating that will be used on this years Christmas tree on the float – feel free to hang out for a little bit and help us make our tree futuristic!

The Spirit Run is coming on Tuesday, November 15th!

All students are asked to try and raise $85 dollars. If they raise $100, they will get to attend a taco party!

Teachers have class incentives as well as they battle it out to be the class with the highest participation!!

Family Fun Night on Friday

Family-Fun-Night-3-29aejtwWe hope you can join us on Friday night at 6 pm in the Junior Yard! The music will be playing, kids will be dancing and teachers will be preparing themselves to meet the DUNK TANK! Yes, you read that correctly! The dunk tank is back!!

Bring money to help your child enter for a chance to win the opportunity to dunk their teacher! Also fall Spirit Wear will be on display and we will be taking orders!

First PTO/Room Mom Meeting

We will have our annual Room mom/PTO meeting next week on Tuesday Sept 13th immediately after drop-off in the Parish Hall.  We will have some food & drinks to enjoy while we go over the important Room mom duties & the PTO agenda.  Our first school event is in just a few weeks…Family Fun Night!!!

Just a reminder that Back to School nights are coming up this week.

TK-5th Grade Back to School Night is Wednesday, August 31st at 6 p.m. starting in the hall.
All families are welcome to attend the New Families reception starting at 5 p.m. Come welcome them to the SMA family!

Middle School Back to School Night is Thursday, September 1st at 6 p.m. in the senior yard.
All families are welcome to attend the middle school new family reception at 5:45 p.m.
