A Message from the Principal, February 26th

Dear Parents,

Greetings from Hampton Virginia! Yesterday I welcomed my second grandchild, Lorelei Rose into this world, a 9 lb. 10 oz. 20.5 in. bundle of pure love. I am so blessed to have been here to help out. I will return to school on Monday with plenty of pictures!

Many thanks to all who helped to make our Masquerade Ball such an amazing success. We are currently finalizing the numbers and hope to share them with you next week. The evening was so enjoyable…I am already looking forward to next year’s celebration!

As we move into the season of Lent we remember this is a time of change…a perfect time to make a change in our lives that will help us to grow closer to Jesus as we reflect on His sacrifice and resurrection.

Lenten Blessings,
Francie Moss

A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents,

We are in full “Gala” mode! The excitement is building. We are happy to share that we have over 140 guests attending. This is such a blessing to SMA and our school and parish community. Please make sure you take a look at our Cause for Auction. There are many wonderful items, services, getaways, and adventures to choose from. If you are not attending the Gala, but you are interested in a live auction item, please designate a friend to bid for you. If you are attending….get out those cocktail dresses, gowns, suits, tuxes and dust off those dancing shoes. It is going to be a night to remember.

Blessings,
Francie Moss

A Message from our Principal, February 5th

Dear Parents,
Well we survived one of the busiest weeks of the school year…Catholic Schools Week! What an amazing celebration of our school family and parish community. I cannot let this eventful week go into the history books without thanking some very dedicated people. Thank you to Fr. Pat for his constant support of our school and always reminding our parishioners that we are “One Parish, One School”. Thank you to our parishioners who keep us in their prayers and are supportive of our accomplishments. Thank you to all of the teachers, students and parents for the gifts and cards that overwhelmed myself and Fr. Pat on Staff Appreciation Day. Many thanks to Mrs. Zack for organizing the special day and the decorating of the office. Thank you to Mrs. Ronchi for all of her work to make the teacher appreciation breakfast so special. Many thanks to the Allen/Clyons family for making Student Appreciation Day delicious by sponsoring the Taco Truck! Thank you, Mrs. Ronchi for helping to serve as well. Grandparents’ Day was a huge success…special thanks to Tania Ronchi, Elizabeth Allen and Michelle McKenna for setting up a wonderful breakfast. A million thanks to Mrs. Oliver for taking the beautiful pictures of our students with their grandparents. What a special way to remember a great day together. Stella Maris Academy is truly a special place!
Time is running out to purchase your Gala tickets! Please do not wait until the last minute. We need to get a head count to the country club. Knowing how many guests to plan for will help us with our preparations. Stop by the office to see some of our silent auction baskets. While you are here, you can purchase your ticket. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted. You can even pay through your FACTS account. Our school depends on everyone’s support for this major fundraiser. Let’s make this Gala the best one yet!!!!

Blessings,
Francie Moss

A Message from Our Principal, Mrs. Moss

Dear Parents,
I am overwhelmed and so incredibly touched by the kindness from you and your children on this “Staff Appreciation Day”. What a blessing it is to be here! I want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the entire faculty and staff of Stella Maris Academy. What an amazing group of talented and dedicated people! Additionally, we count our blessings daily for our pastor Fr. Pat. He is truly, the “captain” of this ship. I am looking forward to celebrating our students tomorrow and our grandparents on Friday. Then a restful weekend for us all!
Special thanks to our Dad’s Club for a successful Wine Tasting Event last Friday. It was wonderful to come together as a school and parish family to support SMA. This year’s proceeds will go to support our new tech based Spanish program. I have come to realize that our “Dads” are the absolute BEST!
Don’t forget to purchase your Gala tickets in the front office and at the junior yard gate on Fridays at pick-up. We still have raffle tickets for sale in the school office. $20 for a chance at $1,000 in gift cards to great restaurants in La Jolla. Our school depends on this fundraiser, so I urge you to come and enjoy good friends, feast on fine food and drink, appreciate great music, take part in our live and silent auctions and of course…dance the night away! What a great deal! You won’t want to miss out on this! Get your tickets by February 1 to be included in a drawing for free registration fees for one child for the upcoming school year (a $650 value). This promises to be quite a memorable evening!
Blessings,
Francie Moss

Message from the Principal, Mrs. Moss

Dear Parents,

Each year as Thanksgiving approaches, we become more “mindful” of the blessings that God has bestowed upon us. For so many of us, family and friends are at the top of our list.  We give thanks for the food that we have on our tables and the homes that shelter us from the weather.  Let us add the special blessing of Stella Maris Academy to our list as well.  We are so grateful for the support of our pastor, Fr. Pat and the parish community of Mary, Star of the Sea, along with the dedication and love of all the faculty and staff at this very special school.  May we all have a joyful, peace-filled Thanksgiving holiday with loved ones, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Holiday Blessings,

Francie Moss

A Message From the Principal, November 6, 2019

Dear Parents,

Happy November!  Many thanks to all of our wonderful resident “Saints” that participated in our All Saints Day celebration and parade.  What an amazing way to show our admiration and respect for those who live their lives as Jesus asks of us.  Additionally, it was an incredible way to “witness”  the importance of living lives devoted to God to the community of La Jolla. Way to go SMA!

I hope you can join us on Monday, November 11 for our Veteran’s Day prayer service.  It will take place at 9:30 in the junior yard (weather permitting).  If you are a veteran or active military, I encourage you to come in uniform.  We will thank you and celebrate your service to our country.   God has blessed us with such a beautiful country and brave men and women to protect it and the freedoms we have as Americans.

Have a great rest of the week!  I pray you have the opportunity to thank a veteran for their service this weekend!

Blessings,

Francie Moss

A Message from the Principal, Mrs. Moss

Dear Parents,

Many more thank yous are in order for all of the exciting things happening at Stella Maris Academy!  The events that are enjoyed by our school community would not be possible without the dedication of parents that volunteer hours upon hours of time to make it happen!  Thank you to Mrs. Kavanaugh and  our PTO for chairing the Halloween Bash.  Additional thanks to Mrs. Anthony, Mrs. Helliar  and Mrs. Ronchi for  going above and beyond as well.  To our room parents and their helpers…you are amazing!  The games were so much fun and really added to the evening’s festivities.  Many thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Garrison for the use of their popcorn machine and for working that station all evening! Thank you to Mr. Moss for all of his assistance in making sure we had power supplied to everything without “tripping” any circuits.  A very special thank you to Mercedes Stalsby, Leslie Furrier, Vanda Poirier and Rosemary Nakamura…these wonderful ladies from our parish “Women’s Guild” volunteered their time to serve the food on this evening.  One School-One Parish!!!!!

I hope to see many of you at our “Coffee With the Principal” tomorrow morning at 8:00 A.M. in the Star Center.  Deacon Jim Vargas, the president and CEO of Father Joe’s Villages will be our guest speaker.

As we look forward to the fun of Halloween tomorrow, we also prepare to remember those who have lived lives devoted to God.  I encourage you to join us for our All Saints Day celebration and school Mass on  Friday.  We will begin in the parish hall at 10:45 with a brief Litany of Saints, then proceed with our Saints Parade around the block and into the church for Mass by 11:20.   We will also be drawing the winning ticket for our Dad’s Club raffle for San Diego Aztec  game tickets at the end of Friday’s school Mass. Don’t forget to stop by the junior yard to see the beautiful Dio de los Muertos altar.  Many thanks to Ms. Sanchez and Mrs. Pina for coordinating this amazing tradition for our children.

So much to be thankful for….so much to celebrate here at Stella Maris Academy!

We will be meeting in the Star Center instead of the parish hall.
Are you planning on attending our Halloween Bash this Saturday?  It promises to be lots of fun for all ages….games…food…a bouncy for the young ones and a haunted library for the brave ones!  I hope to see you all there!
Many Blessings,
